Jane’s large, evocative oils on canvas, and the ‘hot glass’ of Grant Donaldson and Eileen Gordon, capture the vast, often overwhelming, but always inspiring Australian ‘outback’.
This exhibition reflects Jane’s continuing fascination with the spatial relationships of land and sky; the unique colours, patterns, vegetation; and textures of our continent, particularly the red centre and remote areas of the West.
Being ‘in the landscape’ is vital for Jane; ‘the sun and air on my skin; the feeling of sand, grass and rock underfoot, and the smell of the landscape – it all this goes into my work. I can’t paint what I have not seen’.
