EDGE 5 "I am inspired by the high standard of work in this exhibition" Elizabeth Ann MacGregor, Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, in her opening address at a previous Edge exhibition. Land Lines This Cutting EDGE art exhibition "EDGE 5" opens in Paddington next week at Global Gallery on Wednesday 4th August 2004, 6.30 to 8.30pm.The gallery will also host a "Meet the Artist Afternoon Opening" on Saturday 14th Augustfrom 2 - 4pm with the exhibition concluding on Sunday 15th August. The exhibition includes 13 artists with over 100 artworks on display in Global’s large Paddington warehouse. Gallery Hours are 11 - 6pm Tues to Saturday and Sunday 12 - 4pm. Phone 9360 5728 "EDGE 5" is the 5th exhibition by this talented group of mixed media artists led by Mixed Media Artist and Teacher, Annette Pringle. The success of this group is such that this year they will hold TWO concurrent exhibitions in two separate galleries.The second exhibition being held at Mary Place Gallery, 12 Mary Place [off Brown Street], Paddington. This exhibition will open on Wednesday 11th August and will run until Sunday 22nd August (closed on Mondays). THE EDGE‘s inaugural exhibition, held in the ASN Gallery in the Rocks in February 2002, include over 20 artists and was attended by over 500 people. Once again, this exhibition offers an excellent opportunity for collectors to obtain some truly unique and exciting works from a fantastic group of contemporary emerging artists. EDGE exhibitions continue to be one of the best selling student exhibitions in Sydney. Mixed media is the use of different mediums such as acrylic, oil and collage on a structural ground like paper or canvas. An artist may also experiment with some less common mediums such as bitumen and shellac. "I encourage these talented artists to develop their own individual concepts and personal interpretations in mixed media and painting.
