The Australian Centre for Photography presents

the fuji acmp australian photographers

collection 7

12 October to 11 November

Opening Thursday 11 October, 6 - 8pm

The Australian Centre for Photography is proud to premier the Fuji ACMP Australian Photographers Collection 7 Exhibition, which showcases work by the country's finest advertising, commercial and magazine photographers. Spectacular, confronting and eerily beautiful - the images in this collection are given life beyond the fleeting run of an ad campaign or the short span of a magazine issue. The exhibition is a tribute to the extraordinary talents of Australian professional photographers.

Collection 7 has been selected from more than 1400 images by the judging panel chaired by Phil Quirk and including Gael Newton, Senior Curator of Photography at the National Gallery of Australia. The judges have carefully examined the emotional content, composition, texture, spontaneity and overall quality of each image, selecting less than one in six images submitted, for inclusion in the final Collection. The work is displayed in four distinct categories: commissioned, non-commissioned, series and student/assistant. This year the Hall of Fame category includes a special historical portfolio of the work of Richard Woldendorp.

The society of Advertising, Commercial and Magazine Photographers (ACMP) was established in 1991 as a professional body to promote high standards and ethics in photography. The first Fuji ACMP Australian Photographers Collection was staged in 1993. Today the collection has become a benchmark for both aspiring and established photographers.

The Australian Centre for Photography is delighted to host the prestigious ACMP exhibition, which is acknowledged as one of Australia's premier collections of photography.
