Ruth Carroll's images of abandoned building sites at night - the skeletons of infrastructure - are fused with shadows of the human body, in an examination of the battle for co-existence between the human and the urban infrastructure which surrounds it.

Sean Barley's soundscape accompany the images - extending the theme of the place of the human in the urban landscape - filling the richly upholstered interiors of the Town Hall with the sharply contrasting simulation of industrial noise echoing against hard surfaces, sampled over edgy beats. The Stairwell project is a Northarts initiative proudly supported by the City Of Melbourne.
