The Twain Shall Meet Cafe and Gallery was founded as a gallery with an interesting twist in 1997 by Phillip Du Rhone and Hyon Mi Lee. Lee, an artist herself, showed many Korean artists and got so wrapped up in the cafe side of the business that she never had time for a show of her own. Now, in 2001, the gallery is managed by Kirri Jenkins.

Kirri is motivated to show work that she thinks her diverse clientele will enjoy. She is proud that approximately 80% of the artists shown live locally. They usually come as customers and then make enquiries bout hanging work. Kirri describes herself as being "fussy" and has knocked some artists back, but insists that she does not always choose work to her personal taste. The style of work hung is different every month. Last month was really "out there" modern abstracts while next month promises sombre, figurative, charcoal drawings that speak to Kirri about freedom in light of the restrictions of the corporate world.

To exhibit at The Twain Gallery Cafe please call Kirri to arrange an appointment where you can take a portfolio of your work in and put forward a proposal. Kirri sees the arrangement as mutually beneficial. Hang and take, make and keep.
