Kevin Williams Consultant Inner West Tourism Plan

A programme sponsored by the federal government to develop a 3 year tourism plan for 7 local government areas. Kevin will be addressing us on: the shape of the plan his findings regarding existing tourism products how we/Art fits into the plan how we can take advantage of his services in the time remaining till the end of May, when his contract finishes. In the near future Kevin will be setting up workshops to develop these ideas further.

MAP - distribution (eg. at trade shows). Ask for advice from Randi Linnegar, etc, on the successful distribution of the Eastern Suburbs map.

Possibility of links with Jan's sight (Art Almanac), especially considering pre-existing maps that at this point need much more detail.

Other ideas - federal government money might be available for brochure and newsletters, Stay tuned.

Bus exercise - . Nick Vickers looked into the situation and found that the last art bus tour went for 6 weeks which was all anybody planned - Bus company saw it as a short project.

Alma gathered great information and contact for prices for putting together a bus run.

• operator doesn't seem to want to e responsible for making money ot of it. Wants to be paid.
• Kevin Williams suggested it is an opportunity for a small business enterprize.
• Jayne to look into it before the next meeting.

Events:

Ideas for event scenarios were brainstormed.

1)	Approach existing bodies of people who need day-trip ideas:
	National Maritime Museum membership AGNSW excursion (provide their own bus.)
2)	An idea for people coming in to the area. In view of the Annandale light rail arriving soon, perhaps we could propose a special art/rail ticket.

Letters of support:

Draft examples and send them out to operators hopefully for an immediate response.

Boomalli

Kevin Williams of Boomalli (same name, different guy) stepped forward to introduce Boomalli as a Cultural Centre in Annandale. They find a lot of support there and intend on staying for the long term. Their primary funding body is ATSIC and the Ministry of the Arts. They are associated with Gadigal/Koori Radio and can contribute statistics to our discussion as they have lots of data on their area.

Someone suggested looking up Polymorph on Enmore Road.

Meeting ended - everyone happy - next meeting set for three weeks, Tuesday 14th March

Things to present for consideration then include:

• proposals and
• results from research done on ideas that came out of the last meeting.

A proposed agenda will be faxed around the operator community on 10th March. RSVP 13th March. (Managing chairs is becoming an issue.)
